Arthritis

Arthritis is the disorder in the joints that is characterized by swelling, tenderness and pain in joints. This causes the cartilage around the joint to tear and thus, extensive pain and suffering. Almost everyone has heard of the disease and it is more common among older people. 

There are more than hundreds of arthritic disorders that encircle human joints but the most common are the two- Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. 

• Osteoarthritis- In this type of arthritis, the cartilage surrounding the human bones wear down. Osteoarthritis generally affects the knee, spine, and hand joints. 

• Rheumatoid Arthritis- This kind of arthritis takes place when the body’s immune system itself attacks the joints and tissues. Inflammation in the affected region subsequently leads to erosion in the bones and deformity in the joints. 

Symptoms of Arthritis

Common symptoms of arthritis are-

• Swelling and pain in the joint area

• Redness

• Difficulty in movement

• Stiffness 

• Obstruction in carrying out daily tasks because of pain in joints

Causes Of Arthritis 

Following are the major causes of arthritis 

• Dysfunctional immune system

• Injury or accident

• Infection 

• Family history of arthritis 

• Metabolic dysfunctions, etc.
